Kericho Club was established by a few European settlers after they met at Kericho Sports Arm Hotel in the mid-1920s to discuss ways of setting up a golf course in the then Kericho District (now Kericho County). It was a sweet decision by those individuals who eventually identified a steep and hilly area where they built a small golf course at the present location of Kericho Police Station. After the actualization of the plan, a number of European golfers enrolled into the club and the number increased rapidly.

The growth came with a demand to move to a more spacious location, forcing them to relocate to a horse racing course that at the time hosted large tracts of land several kilometers away from the original venue. They settled at the present 9-Hole Course Kericho Club as the new venue. After independence, Kenyans were allowed to become members and also voted to join the club management team.
